West Bend, WI – Like a well-oiled machine the cars lined up, volunteers waved them through, trunks were cleared, boxes and bags retrieved, and donations welcomed during the annual Shred Day at Horicon Bank on Paradise Drive in West Bend, WI.
”We found our groove early,” said veteran John Kleinmaus as he pointed the next vehicle through the line.
Cars streamed through as neighbors dropped their paper and donated their green to the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight. Within a half hour the first rush had made its way through as the shredding machines loudly droned in the background.
Scouts started disassembling boxes and another stream of cars began lining up across from the bank.Â
The weather was perfect – a fairy tale forecast of sorts…. not too hot, not too cold… just right for a day to help people declutter and pay veterans back for their service fighting for this country’s freedoms.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
