Washington Co., WI – The 2021 Washington County Fair was a huge success as final figures were released during a meeting this week of the Land Use and Planning Committee.

“The fair itself was fantastic,” said Washington County Fair Park executive director Kellie Boone. “We had great crowds, everyone was happy to be there and I have never seen such a lack of complaints about anything.”

“Our attendance (grand total) was 79,164 which was actually up about 10,000 from 2019.”

Boone said, “The vendors were happy, the people were happy, and the staff did an amazing job. We were still short staffed during the Fair so for us to pull off what we were able to do this year was a really great accomplishment for everybody.”

Headliners at this year’s Washington County Fair, which ran July 20 – 25, included Lanco, Queensryche, and country sensation Brantley Gilbert.

A couple other Fair Park highlights:

  • At this point in the year, the Fair Park is almost back to a completely full schedule which is great. There were very few events that were cancelled or rescheduled. A few events have ended their run entirely but we’ve also picked up a bunch of new annual events.
  • Fair Park
  • An ATV UTV charity ride is looking at coming back yearly. We see more on the horizon coming in 2022 so the events we’ve lost have been replaced and as far as I’m aware we don’t have any cancellations in 2022.
  • Staff at Washington County Fair Park are working with Joe Balistreri to book national entertainment for the Fair Park. We have some offers out right now and we’re just waiting to hear whether those bids are actually going to go through and if they do, we’ll have concert announcements earlier than since before I’ve been here.

  • Since the end of June, we’ve still been operating with three less full-time people than we normally would and we restaffed our facilities department with three new people. They really stepped up and helped and I want to say thank you for the new team has been in place in since September they are doing amazing, they all work very well together, the clients really like them and if you are out on the grounds, you will notice some very positive changes.
  • In 2022 we’re planning a Halloween event that would be in the Ag area of fairgrounds, we will be discontinuing the bridal fare and replacing it permanently with the winter carnival which went over great for families.
