West Bend Police evacuate neighborhood following threatening situation

March 23, 2020 – West Bend, WI – On Monday, March 23, 2020 at approximately 5:25 p.m. a citizen viewed a video on social media posted by a neighbor in the 1600 block of Vogt Drive. In the video, the neighbor threatened to harm himself and blow up their multi-family apartment building with propane gas. The citizen immediately called the West Bend Police Department.

West Bend Officers responded and identified the subject as a 54-year-old man. Officers secured the area and evacuated neighbors. The West Bend Police Department’s Special Response Team negotiated with the man for over an hour.

During negotiations, the man shot himself in the neck with a crossbow. Officers immediately made entry and rendered aid. The man was taken into custody and transported to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. West Bend Investigators will refer charges to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
