November 20, 2023 – Jack Walter of West Bend, WI, shot his first deer, an 8-point buck, on his 14th birthday, November 18, 2023.
Walter, an 8th grader at Holy Angels School in West Bend, WI, was hunting in Florence County, WI.

“We went out around 1:30 p.m.,” he said. “The weather was pretty warm, but you could still see your breath.”
Sitting in a blind, Walter said the 8-pointer was the first deer he saw that day. “He walked right in front of me.”
Walker got the deer in his sight and dropped him with a 40-yard shot hitting the buck in the heart.
Hunting for the past 4 years, Walker finally got his first deer and was extremely excited and thankful.
“It was pretty cool it and my grandpa was the first one there to help field dress it and drag it to the truck,” said Walker.
The deer weighed 155 pounds.
