Obit: Donna M. Becker (nee Peters), 82, of Jackson


May 17, 2018 – Jackson, WI – Donna M. Becker (nee Peters), 82, of Jackson died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, the day before her 83rd birthday.

She was born May 16, 1935 in West Bend to Alex and Veronica (nee Schladweiler) Peters and married Glen E. Becker on October 17, 1959 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend. Glen preceded her in death on July 4, 2015.

She was an accomplished accordion player in her youth and even taught others in the surrounding counties how to play it for the Joe Gigante Music Company in West Bend. After she graduated from West Bend High School she started working at St. Joseph’s Hospital before attending Sacred Heart School of Nursing. Following her marriage she was the plant nurse at the West Bend Company in Hartford.

Donna was a natural born nurturer and truly loved caring for others. After her children were born she became a stay at home mom. This passion led her to care for her family and more than 50 foster children over a 26 year period as well as working the night shift at the Samaritan Home for a few years.

She was an excellent baker and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Donna was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping and auto racing.

Donna is survived by her 4 children: Michael (Cathy) of Port Washington, Patrick (special friend Sherry) of Germantown, Connie (Paul) Speck of Jackson and Jessica (special friend Nick) Becker of West Bend and 3 grandchildren: Alex Becker, Kayla Wendorf, Jameson Rubisch and one on the way. She is further survived by her siblings: Marietta Guenther of Freeport, IL, Beatrice (Robert) Boldt of West Bend, Loretta Justman of West Bend and Alan (Rita) Peters of West Bend, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eleanor Peters of West Bend, Bethana Peters of Hartford, Christine Peters of Port Washington, Jean Beimborn of West Bend, Cynthia Peters of West Bend, Richard (Wendy) Becker of Hartford and Kay Becker of Hartford and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Veronica Peters, her husband Glen Becker, 5 brothers: Vernon, Gerald, Ralph, Linus and Leon Peters, 3 brothers-in-law Richard Guenther, Henry Justman and Robert Becker and a sister-in-law Joan (Kenneth) Klink.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend with Rev. Justin Lopina presiding. Entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. The family will greet visitors on Sunday, May 20th from 4:00 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend and also Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at church. In lieu of flowers Masses or memorials are appreciated.

The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
