Man facing felony charges tied to alleged abuse of 52-day-old infant | By Fond du Lac Police

April 29, 2026 – Fond du Lac, WI – On March 17, 2026, at approximately 3:19 a.m., the City of Fond du Lac Police Department was notified that a 52-day-old infant, a resident of the City of Fond du Lac had been transported to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with serious injuries. Medical staff identified multiple rib fractures, a clavicle fracture, and a throat injury requiring surgical intervention.

Prior to that transfer, the infant was initially evaluated at a local hospital in Fond du Lac. Due to the severity of the injuries, the infant was transported to Children’s Hospital for a higher level of care.
Based on the information received, City of Fond du Lac Police Detectives were immediately activated. The Fond du Lac County Department of Human Services – Child Protective Services responded as well, initiating a coordinated joint investigation.
From the start, FDLPD Officers and Detectives worked with urgency and purpose.
The investigation included the collection and review of medical records from multiple providers, interviews with medical professionals, and numerous investigative interviews. As the case developed, Detectives were informed that the infant had suffered additional injuries beyond those initially reported.
On April 28, 2026, FDLPD Detectives conducted an interview with a 25-year-old male associated with the infant. Following that interview, the individual was taken into custody and transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail on a charge of Physical Abuse of a Child – Reckless Causation of Bodily Harm, a Class H Felony. The charge has been referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office for review.
“Our Detectives, Officers, and partner agencies have worked tirelessly on this case from the moment we were notified,” said Lt. Nick Hahn. “Our focus remains where it belongs, on the safety and well-being of this child. We are committed to following every lead, every fact, to ensure accountability and to protect the most vulnerable in our community.”
This investigation remains ongoing. No further information will be released at this time, pending the individual’s initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.
