June 18, 2023 – Dodge Co., WI – Knowles Fire Department has responded along with more than 15 other departments as Dodge County has a major structure fire at N9758 Sunny View Road.
Hazardous materials crews have been called following an 800-gallon spill of Round Up which is a glyphosate-based herbicide.
According to Ron Naab from the Allenton Fire Department, Round Up is a liquid used to kill weeds. “It is not sold in this quantity or strength to the general public,” he said.
The location of the fire is a large dairy farm north of of HWY 28, about two miles east of HWY 175.
Fifth level for tankers coming in from Brownsville, Lomira, Theresa, Oakfield, Campbellsport, Iron Ridge, Lamartine, Alto, town of Fond du Lac, Horicon, Eden, Kohlsville, Allenton, St. Lawrence
Second level for all other departments responding.
The first call came in around 3 p.m.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area so tankers can get through.
