Obit: Irene Harriet McCartney Smith, 101

Irene Harriet McCartney Smith, 101, of West Bend died on January 20, 2016, at Cedar Bay West Assisted Living at the Cedar Community, West Bend, WI.
A memorial service for the immediate family and Cedar Community friends will be held at the Cedar Bay Chapel on February 27, 2016 at 10:00AM.  Chaplin David Stone as the officiant.

Irene was born on December 17, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Albert Joseph and Harriet (Fuller Secor) McCartney.  She was married to the love of her life, William Lewis Smith of Milwaukee, WI. on November 12, 1935, in her parents’ home in Tulsa.

She is survived by her children:  Lewis (Carol) M. Smith of Fond du Lac, WI, and Susan (Howard) R. Westfahl of Menomonee Falls, WI; grandchildren Scott (Jennica), Kirk (Amy), and Chad (Beth) Westfahl, Pamela (Ron) Cramer, Kimberly, (Kevin) Braatz, and Christine (Tim) Langille; great-grandchildren Zachary, Alexandria, Hunter, Mitchell, Brady Westfahl, Elly, Abe, and Cal Laggis, Samuel and Lara Cramer, William, Elijah, and Claire Braatz, and Sophia and Carson Langille, nephews Robert, James, and Thomas McCartney.  Irene was preceded in death by her husband Lewis of 67 years, her parents Albert and Harriet, her sister Louise Marks and her brother Joseph McCartney.

Irene was devoted to her family and as such was an excellent cook, seamstress, and hostess.  She and her Lewie moved to the Cedar Community Campus in 1979 and most recently she served the Cedar Bay West residents as liturgist for weekly chapel services.  Irene was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church of West Bend.
