Obit: Rose Valley Berchem, 80, of West Bend. How many of us received the gifts of her cakes and cookies and felt the care baked in?

March 14, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Rose Valley Berchem, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend.  She was born on June 25, 1936 in Menominee, MI to the late Godfrey and Marie (nee Wozniak) Valley.

Rose lived with the temperament of a true artist, yet denied her talent with every breath.  Her gardens overflowing with color and glory, her quilts laden with perfect hues and patterns told the real story.

Rose could be complicated, yet naïve, strong of conviction, yet contradictory in thought.  But her constant was her giving nature.  How many of us received the gifts of her cakes and cookies and felt the care baked in?

This artist has left her mark with us, and has begun the quilt of her dreams and the rose garden that never ends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Frances Cabrini (1025 S. 7th Ave. West Bend, WI 53095) with Father Nathan Reesman presiding.  Visitation will be at church from 10:00AM until the time of Mass (11:00AM).  Inurnment will be at a later date at the New St. Mary’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Kathy Hospice (3232 Pleasant Valley Rd. West Bend, WI 53095).

A heartfelt thanks to her loyal friends that remained close to Rose and comforted her.
