Roxanne Gattie, of Cedarburg, went to walk with her Lord during the evening hours of Friday, June 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.
Roxanne was born in Racine, on October 4, 1947, daughter of Russell Smith and Marietta Bickel Smith. She grew up in Racine and graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1965. After high school, Roxanne attended the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1969. She furthered her education earning her Masters of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University.
On June 14, 1969 she married Jeffrey Gattie at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Racine. They spent their first five years of marriage in Omaha, NE at Offut Air Force Base where Jeff was stationed. The couple later moved to Cedarburg to raise their family. Roxanne’s final place of employment was at Columbia St. Mary’s as the Director of Physician Billing.
Roxanne was a longtime member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Mequon, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of PEO and enjoyed volunteering her time at the Cedarburg Quilt Museum. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, traveling, playing mahjong, Bridge and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband Jeff of Cedarburg, three children: Rachel (Matt) Halverson of Cedarburg, Melissa Beavers of South Beloit, IL and Peter (Andrea) Gattie of Brown Deer. She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Lilly, Olivia, Amara, Patrick, Alison, Avery and Mason, her sister Cassandra (Steve) Woolley of St. Michael, MN, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A time of gathering will take place on Thursday, June 16th from 4-6 PM at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 3906 W. Mequon Rd, Mequon. A service celebrating Roxanne’s life presided by the Reverend Kenny Miller will follow at 6 PM. She will be laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Boniface Episcopal Church.
