November 1, 2019 – Fond du Lac, WI –Lucy Louise Wiedmeyer (nee Cash), 90, formerly of Allenton, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, with loving family at her side.
Lucy and her identical twin sister, ‘Tootie’, were born to Herbert and Frieda Cash in the town of West Bend, on December 30, 1928.
On September 14, 1948, Lucy married Richard Wiedmeyer at St.’s Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nenno. They spent the next 30 years farming and raising their family of eight children. Lucy was a devoted wife and a loving mother.
She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years after retiring from farming. She filled her time caring for others, volunteering at the Cedar Ridge resale shop, sewing and making lap quilts for charitable donation. She loved reading and putting together puzzles with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Wiedmeyer, her infant son, Richard Jr. and her beloved twin sister, Frieda (Tootie) Backhaus. She is survived by her loving children; Leo (Ruth Ann) Wiedmeyer, Shirley (Steve) Ansay, Vernon (Jacquie) Wiedmeyer, Gerri (Brian) Literski, Marge (Linn) Whitinger, Chris (Tim) Wiest, Mary (Jeff) Neterval and Julia Wiedmeyer (Scott Kluetzman).
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Brian Higgins, Sara Wiedmeyer, Amy (Kevin) Delaney, Rebecca (Christian) Stilp, Matthew (Lindy) Wiedmeyer, Paul (Christina) Wiedmeyer, Dana (Zeus) Rodriguez, Michelle Michael, Andrew Wiest, Alex, Tito, and Josie Perez, Riley Kluetzman, as well as 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and her loving grand-dog, Bella.
Lucy will be missed by all who knew her, including numerous nieces, nephews, friends and care-givers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church located at 4886 Hwy 175, St. Lawrence, WI. With Rev. Jonathon Schmeckel presiding. Visitation will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Lucy’s family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation for the care, compassion and loving support provided by the staff at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. And by the amazing staff who work for Hospice Home of Help.
