Sarah Heinen recipient of Mother Cabrini Award

West Bend, WI – A longstanding tradition during Catholic Schools Week in West Bend is the presentation of the Mother Cabrini Award at St. Frances Cabrini School.

St Frances Cabrini, Heinen

On Friday, February 4, 2022, principal William Waech presented this year’s award to Mrs. Sarah Heinen. “This year’s Mother Cabrini Award winner is a pioneer. She has blazed a trail for Saint Frances Cabrini by starting her own program. This program is now over 15 years old and has gone from a couple of students to 12-20 each school year.

“She is a virtuous teacher just like Mother Cabrini. She has shown perseverance through this COVID pandemic. Though scary for her, she continued to teach her students with a smile and tender loving care. Not only this but she is also attaining her license on top of all of this. Yes, she has definitely shown perseverance.

“She is loved by her co-workers and this is what they had to say:

“She consistently shows up for her students but also reaches out to other staff members to make sure they feel welcomed.”

Her faith and family are important in her life, and she places those things above any material possessions.  She is a great friend and confidante to many.”

“As principal, I am always impressed by people doing things that I just cannot do.  She consistently gets 3-year-olds to walk in a straight line down the hall, and I just can’t do that.

“If you have not figured out this year’s Mother Cabrini Award winner yet, it is Mrs. Sarah Heinen.”

Past winners of the Mother Cabrini Award include Mrs. Gardon, Mrs. Endlich, Mrs. Vogel, Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Brian McElmeel, Mrs. Emily Graper, Mrs. Cheryl Liebetrau, and Mrs. Tracy Lehnerz.
