VIDEO | Jordan Stolz wins 5 gold, 2 bronze and named Best All-Around Skater in the World

February 13, 2023 – Germany – It will be interesting to see how long local speedskater Jordan Stolz gets tied up in the ‘medal’ detector while making his way home from Germany, as the 18-year-old from the Town of Kewaskum cleaned up at the Junior World Championships over the weekend.

Stolz secured 5 gold, 2 bronze and was named Best All-Around Skater in the World.

Stolz won gold in the 500 meter with a finish time of 34.95.

Three hours later, Stolz toed the start line again in the 1500-meter race. He finished with a time of 1:45.17 to secure another gold. Click HERE to watch the 1500-meter race.

On Saturday, Stolz raced away from the competition and picked up another gold for a first-place finish in the 1000-meter with a time of 1:08.28.

Stolz picked up a bronze medal in the 5000-meter.

The combination of the above four races in points earned him Best All-Around Skater in the World and a new Junior World Record in points.

Stolz also earned a gold medal and a pure gold speed skate (The Golden Skate) about 3” long for the Junior World Record.

In the team sprint, Stolz and his USA teammates Jonathan Tobon and Auggie Herman finished in first place with a time of 1:22.25 to secure gold.

 

In the men’s Mass Start, Stolz picked up a bronze medal finishing third with a time of 5:22.01. Lukás Steklý from the Czech Republic finished first with a time of 5:12.83 and Canadian skater Danial Hall finished in second place with a time of 5:13.07.

In the Team Pursuit, the USA team finished fourth.

Stolz is a native of Washington County, Wi who began skating with his family on the pond outside their home in the Town of Kewaskum. Stolz competed in the 2022 Beijing Olympics and in November 2022 he earned the title ‘Fastest man on ice’ after becoming the youngest skater to record a time of 1:44:891 in the 1,500-meter race at the World Cup in race in Stavanger, Norway.

Next weekend is the Senior World Cup in Poland followed by Senior World Championships in the Netherlands.
